A lengthy mediation session Thursday afternoon between the Woodburn School District and Woodburn Education Association led to tentative agreements on three issues, but not the big breakthrough that’s needed to get a contract over the finish line.
And with no new mediation session scheduled – though hoped-for sometime in June – the possibility of summer coming and going without a contract, and the threat of a possible teacher’s strike, are becoming more problematic.
But that’s the future. In the present, the two sides met May 28 to try to find common ground towards a new contract. Unfortunately, any progress that was made simply didn’t lead to the contract both sides say they want…
