SALEM, Ore. — A Marion County Circuit Court judge sentenced Juan Carlos Elias-Perez, 36, to 48 months in the Department of Corrections after a Marion County Jury found him guilty of Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, the Marion Co. Dist. Attorney’s Office said in a media release on Tuesday.
The convictions stem from a December 14, 2025, incident in which Salem Police officers and Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an apartment on Sunnyview Road NE. At approximately 4:08 a.m., the victim was awoken when she heard banging on the exterior of her residence, including her windows and front door.
When she opened the door, she saw Elias-Perez standing outside holding a knife and telling her to come toward him. Elias-Perez then began to approach her while wielding the knife. Fearing for her safety and that of her three children and grandchildren sleeping in the residence, ages 4, 9, and 10, she immediately shut and locked the door and called 911.
