FBI tip leads to arrest of teen in Salem school threat investigation

SALEM, Ore. (KATU) — Salem police and federal investigators say they disrupted a potential school threat Thursday after learning a 16-year-old student had been researching school shootings and accessing information related to making guns.

The investigation began around 9:33 a.m. when the FBI alerted Salem police about the teen’s online activity. Detectives coordinated with Salem-Keizer Public Schools to make sure students and staff were safe.
