MARION COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) – An injured 85-year-old hiker was rescued on Thursday night near Breitenbush Hot Springs, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday.
At about 7 p.m., deputies were sent to a trail near the hot springs after a hiker suffered serious injuries in a fall.
To reach the man and bring him the mile back to the trailhead, search and rescue crews used a wheeled litter and technical rope system. Once at the road, he was transferred to an ambulance and rushed to the hospital.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reminded hikers to always tell someone where they are going and when they expect to return, carry plenty of water, wear appropriate shoes, know their physical limits, and bring a charged cell phone or emergency communication device…
