Oregon Humane Conducts Super-Sized Spay-Neuter Event

On Wednesday, July 8, Oregon Humane hosted a “super-sized” spay/neuter event for pet families completing 269 surgeries—206 at the Community Veterinary Hospital in Portland and 63 at the Veterinary Clinic in Salem. In total, 237 cats and 32 dogs received care.

While Oregon Humane provides low-cost spay/neuter for pets each week through the Spay & Save program, the demand far outpaces the availability of services.

This is why, twice a year, Oregon Humane takes an “all hands on deck” approach to expand access to meet the huge need. During these “super-sized” spay/neuter days, Oregon Humane pauses most other veterinary services and focuses on providing high-quality, spay/neuter surgery for as many owned pets in Portland and Salem as possible…
