SHADY COVE, Ore. – A Shady Cove mechanic gave firefighters a helping hand in their efforts to fight the East Evans Creek fire.
On Friday, Dayton firefighters noticed that a hub seal on the front of one of their fire engines was missing. Luckily, they met 63-year-old mechanic Dan King, who had the engine crew come by his shop, Dan King Automotive, where he replaced the bearing and hub seal. He sent the crew back on their way with some extra oil in the tank.
King says he refused payment for the work, saying that some things are about more than money. “We figured it out, got them back on the road, it’s really no big deal… Considering what these guys are doing, who cares about the money? More important to get them back out there,” said King…
