Search begins for missing Newberg youth

A state agency is seeking the public’s help in finding a missing Newberg youth.

According to an alert issued late Tuesday evening by the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), 17-year-old Connor Reed went missing from a foster home two days prior and is believed to be in danger.

ODHS officials added that they believe Reed is still in the Newberg area and “asks the public for help in the effort to find him and to contact 911 or local law enforcement if they believe they see him,” the alert said.

Reed is five-foot, six-inches tall and 134 pounds with light brown hair and hazel-colored eyes. He has pierced ears and a line shaved into his eyebrow.

ODHS officials advised that locating the youth is paramount to ensuring his safety.

“Sometimes when a child is missing they may be in significant danger and ODHS may need to locate them to assess and support their safety,” the alert said. “As ODHS works to do everything it can to find these missing children and assess their safety, media alerts will be issued in some circumstances when it is determined necessary.”
