LAYTON, Utah (ABC4) — The Layton Costa Vida is deemed a near-total loss after a fire suspected to have started with fireworks collapsed its roof and caused over $1 million in damage early Sunday morning.
According to Layton City Fire Department (LCFD), dispatch received multiple calls reporting a commercial fire at 630 West 1425 North just before midnight on July 4. The callers claimed flames were coming through the building’s roof.
Upon arrival, crews found the fire had engulfed Costa Vida’s roof and conducted an aggressive interior and roof attack to contain the fire. However, LCFD reported that the building’s unique construction significantly contributed to the fire’s spread and complicated suppression efforts.
