‘Number one weather killer is heat’: Climate scientist speaks on future of Utah’s temperatures after heat wave

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A climate scientist spoke on the impacts of heat waves and the likelihood of extreme temperatures in Utah’s future.

Utah residents are still reeling from the heat wave that occurred over the last weekend, after experiencing statewide power outages, new wildfires, and record-breaking temperatures in Salt Lake City.

Dr. John Meyer, Assistant State Climatologist at the Utah Climate Center and Climatologist with the Department of Plant, Soils, and Climate at Utah State University, says the high temperatures are likely here to stay for the foreseeable future…
