Utah Department of Corrections holds job fair for residents seeking reentry

WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC4) — The Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) held a job fair for residents at community correctional centers on Wednesday, connecting employers with those seeking a fresh start.

Richard Piatt, director of public affairs with UDC, told ABC4.com that a vital component of successful reentry for those on probation or parole is securing meaningful employment.

He continued, “The job market is very difficult for people who are being released from incarceration. ” It’s hard for anybody, really,” Piatt explained. “If anyone’s willing to do the work, then they get an interview and see if they can find something that works to their mutual benefit.”
