SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Tuesday, Utah! Temperatures will take a slight dip today as monsoonal moisture will linger across portions of the state.
Showers and thunderstorms
The ridge of high pressure continues to sit just off to the east near the four corners pulling in a southerly flow and bringing in moisture. While this moisture is not too impressive and the flash flood threat is low, this does not mean the threat doesn’t exist with slight chances of locations across eastern Utah seeing a flooding risk.
Daily shower and thunderstorm chances will linger through Wednesday across central and northern Utah with slight chances across the Wasatch Front. Temperatures will still remain warm with upper 90’s and few 100’s for northern Utah and mid 100’s into southern Utah and St. George.

Overnight lows will still remain warm with 70’s holding on for most and few lows staying in the 80’s. Conditions will start to dry out by Thursday and Friday as the high pressure begins to slide to the west over the region.
This will effectively shut off the monsoon moisture Utah has seen the past two weeks and bring a return to lower relative humidities in the single digits and teens. It will also bring hot and record-breaking temperatures by the end of the week and this weekend as it strengthens.
Looking ahead: Heat builds
The heat begins to build on Thursday, but you will really begin to feel it by Friday with daytime highs climbing into the mid 100’s for the Wasatch Front. Southern Utah will see the brunt of the heat with the ridge centered over the Utah/Arizona border.
