Developers requesting demolition of closed Coachman’s restaurant in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Whether you visited the restaurant while it was open or just spotted the giant lantern while travelling down State Street, you may be familiar with Coachman’s Dinner & Pancake House.

Five years after its closure, it seems as though a demolition is finally moving forward at 1300 and State Street in Salt Lake City.

Previously, in 2022, the site was set for demolition to make way for condos, but it ultimately remained standing despite the nearby buildings being flattened and cleared in 2025.

However, it can’t remain standing forever, as a new application to demolish the shuttered restaurant has been filed with Salt Lake City. The application reads, “Old restaurant being torn down and cleaned up to allow future development on lot.”…
