WEST JORDAN — A man suspected of driving a stolen vehicle is in custody after he was followed by police and a Department of Public Safety helicopter from Midvale to West Jordan on Friday.
According to West Jordan Police, around 4:45 p.m., officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle after scanning a pickup truck with a license plate reader near 7400 S. Main Street in Midvale.
A Public Safety helicopter was in the area, police said, and followed the truck for about 30 minutes as officials looked for an appropriate place to spike the suspect’s tires.
The tires were spiked near 6980 S. 3535 W. At that point the suspect pulled into a dead end street. He remained in the truck “for a few minutes.” Police were reportedly prepared to use a non-lethal pepper ball to bring the suspect out of the vehicle…
