Summer is coming: Here’s when South Texas heat index temps could hit 105 degrees

The calendar still says late April, but it’s about to feel a lot like summer across South Texas.

Not only will temperatures keep rising higher over the next few days, but Gulf moisture will continue to stream in from the southeast, bringing brutal humidity levels into the region. Heat index values could reach 105 degrees in San Antonio later this week.

Along with the high heat, a few isolated thunderstorms are also possible, but overall rain chances are going to stay relatively low. Then by the end of the week, weather models are showing that a relatively strong cold front is likely to arrive. Here’s a full breakdown of what to expect.

Sunday’s forecast

A muggy and cloudy morning is expected across South Texas as temperatures hover in the low to mid-70s through 10 a.m. Areas of patchy dense fog are also possible especially out in the Hill Country between 5 and 9 a.m.

Pushing into the middle of the day, some clearing is anticipated, but skies will stay partly cloudy. Temperatures will rise steadily, reaching 85 degrees by 1 p.m. before topping out between 91 and 93 degrees by the late afternoon.
