SAN ANTONIO – An off-duty San Antonio police officer is being praised for his heroic actions after running toward a burning crash scene and helping save a life.
The deadly accident happened just before 7 p.m. on Apr. 23 off U.S. Highway 281 North near TPC Parkway on the Far North Side.
Police said the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Gerson Adony Godoy Villalta, was improperly towing a Dodge Ram pickup with a Chevrolet pickup when he veered out of his lane and struck an attenuator, also known as crash cushions.
