San Diego prosecutors outline argument to prevent Santana High School shooter’s release from prison.

SANTEE, Calif. — The San Diego County District Attorney’s Office has filed its opening brief in hopes of preventing the release of Santana High School shooter Andy Williams from prison.

If prosecutors lose the appeal, a juvenile judge could decide to resentence Williams, or possibly release him from state prison, where Williams has spent the last 24 years for killing two classmates and wounding 13 others at his Santee high school on March 5, 2001. The shooting rampage is San Diego County’s worst school shooting in history.
