SDG&E expands ‘Super Off-Peak’ hours to daytime, giving customers more ways to lower bills

SAN DIEGO — San Diego Gas & Electric is expanding its time-of-use pricing program to offer customers lower electricity rates during daytime hours, starting May 1. Under the new plan, customers on time-of-use plans can save money by shifting energy use to weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when solar production peaks and rates drop to their lowest level.

Previously, super off-peak rates for those hours—the cheapest available—were only available during March and April for daytime use. Beginning May 1, those midday hours will be available year-round on weekdays.
