A mountain lion was spotted in a residential neighborhood in Southern California this week, several miles from its typical mountainous habitat, prompting local police and wildlife officials to mount a ground and air operation to tranquilize it.
The cougar was reported on the 700 block of North Grape Street in San Diego’s Escondido neighborhood on Monday afternoon, according to the Escondido Police Department. The animal hid under a white truck parked underneath a covered garage, where it stayed for some time, police added.
