Police arrest boyfriend of slain Berkeley woman

(KRON) — Days after a 37-year-old woman was found dead inside her Berkeley apartment, the victim’s boyfriend was taken into police custody on Tuesday, according to authorities.

Damarcus Jones, 28, of Berkeley, was arrested on suspicion of murder after being located in Dixon. Investigators said evidence and other information linked him to the homicide.

On Saturday, May 30, Berkeley Police Department officers were called to an apartment building in the 1900 block of California Street after the property manager found the woman deceased inside her unit. Authorities said the 37-year-old “appears to have died after a physical assault.”
