- Thieves stole a fully equipped police SUV from a downtown Oakland parking garage, including a light bar, push bar, sirens, and radio equipment.
Stealing a cop car is the kind of thing that usually only happens in a video game. You boost a cruiser, the sirens light up, and you tear off down the street. In real life, it almost never happens. Yet that is exactly what went down early Sunday morning in a downtown Oakland parking garage, where a group of thieves made off with a fully equipped police SUV belonging to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
This was not some stripped, plain-Jane fleet vehicle either. The SUV they grabbed came loaded with the works, which makes the whole thing even more brazen than it already sounds.
