MARIN COUNTY, Calif. (KRON) — A Bay Area family’s 2019 tragedy is helping shape future building safety standards across the country. The nonprofit “Ready, Set, Safe!” is celebrating after international building officials approved new gate safety requirements for the 2027 International Building Code.
What began as a family’s search for answers has grown into a movement for change. “Ready, Set, Safe!” is a nonprofit founded by Bay Area couple Eric and Dayna Quanbeck after their son, 7-year-old Alex, was killed in 2019.
