A 14-year-old boy who allegedly stole a vehicle in Alameda County was arrested earlier this week after deputies used license plate reader technology and a GPS tracking device to locate the car, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a vehicle that had been stolen about an hour earlier. Using license plate reader technology, deputies tracked the vehicle to San Leandro, where they attached a StarChase GPS tracker to the fleeing car, the Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post Wednesday.
