Yesterday, in Mill Valley, Cornelia Avenue became tense, as an emergency advisory warned of an active residential structure fire and urged drivers to steer clear of the area. Roadblocks went up at the Summit and Lovell intersections while firefighters worked the blaze. The home was fully evacuated, and officials told nearby residents there were no additional evacuation orders as crews secured the scene.

Police Issue Nixle Advisory And Close Roadway

According to the City of Mill Valley, the Mill Valley Police Department sent a Nixle message instructing people to AVOID Cornelia Ave for the next hour and announced the roadway was closed. The alert, delivered via Nixle and powered by Everbridge, Inc., said roadblocks were set at Cornelia Avenue at Summit Avenue and Cornelia Avenue at Lovell Avenue while first responders handled the incident.

Fire Response And Timeline

Marin County Fire and Southern Marin Fire Protection District crews responded after the blaze was reported around 10:30 AM, according to Bay City News Service. Road closures were put in place at about 11 AM, and the street was reopened around 12:15 PM, with several engines remaining on scene into the early afternoon to mop up and monitor hot spots, according to SFGATE.
