Six people, three dogs and a cat were displaced from the Castro Valley home that caught fire Sunday afternoon.
By the time firefighters arrived, the blaze had sent so much black smoke into the air that it could be seen from San Francisco. The house was engulfed. No occupants were injured.
The “tough” fire lasted for about 3.5 hours after it started at about 4 p.m., according to Cheryl Hurd, spokesperson for the Alameda County Fire Department. The cause of the fire is still under investigation…
