Sprouts Farmers Market proposed for shuttered San Jose store site

SAN JOSE — A Sprouts Farmers Market has been proposed for a site in South San Jose where an Orchard Supply Hardware store once operated for about 36 years, according to city planning files.

Totaling 25,100 square feet, the Sprouts supermarket at 5651 Cottle Road would use the same main entrance as the old hardware store that closed in 2018. Lowe’s Hardware, which acquired Orchard Supply Hardware in 2013, permanently closed all locations in 2019.
