Alameda Co.: 3 Accused In Alleged Auto Theft Ring And Chop Shop

Three men were accused Friday of being part of a sophisticated auto theft ring that stole vehicles to break them up for parts, then dumping the remains in Union City and surrounding areas, Alameda County prosecutors said.

Christobal Hernandez Canas, 22, Ismael Fernando Garcia, 20, and Oscar Alfaro Garcia, 23, were arraigned on 40 felony counts including unlawful taking of cars, receipt of stolen property, vandalism and operating a chop shop, the District Attorney’s Office said.
