California man arrested on suspicion of riding a horse while under the influence, CHP says

In a peculiar turn of events, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the Santa Cruz office responded to an unusual call yesterday evening, involving a man riding a horse and causing a traffic obstruction on Casserly Rd near HWY 152.

The bizarre incident resulted in the rider’s arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) while on horseback, the CHP said.

The call prompted a swift response from CHP officers who arrived at the scene to find the man, identified as the rider, under the influence while navigating the horse on the roadway, causing disruptions to traffic flow.

The impaired rider was subsequently arrested for DUI, highlighting the unconventional circumstances surrounding this particular case.

The arrest serves as a reminder that DUI offenses extend beyond motor vehicles to other modes of transportation, emphasizing the importance of responsible choices in all circumstances.
