California murder suspect, 36, arrested three counties away by alert CHP officers

In a swift and commendable operation, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers in Santa Cruz apprehended a Pinole homicide suspect yesterday evening. The suspect, identified as Jeffrey Kendall, was wanted for murder in Pinole, CA, following a tragic incident in the early hours of Friday, February 16th, 2024.

The Pinole Police Dispatch received a distressing report of a subject breaking into a residence in the 500 block of Summit Drive and attacking a female. Pinole and Hercules police officers rapidly responded to the scene, discovering a heartbreaking sight: a female victim tragically deceased with at least one gunshot wound.

According to the initial investigation, the suspect, Jeffrey Kendall, a 36-year-old White male associated with the residence, fled the scene before officers arrived. Witnesses reported seeing Kendall leaving the area and escaping in a grey Hyundai Elantra.

Yesterday evening, CHP officers in Santa Cruz spotted the suspect’s vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, in the vicinity of Seabright Ave. at Murray St. Actively patrolling the area, the CHP officers, in collaboration with the Santa Cruz Police and Harbor Patrol, swiftly initiated a stop on the vehicle.
