Valley Water’s annual Capital Improvement Program: Projects to protect and enhance healthy ecosystems in Santa Clara County

Every year, Valley Water develops its Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Five-Year Plan, a rolling annual plan to fund projects needed to maintain a strong and reliable water system for Santa Clara County. The plan includes project descriptions, estimated schedules, costs and planned funding sources for these critical infrastructure investments.

About a dozen projects in the CIP Five-Year Plan focus on protecting and improving our local environment. These projects support environmental enhancement, mitigation and long-term stewardship goals.

Specifically, Valley Water’s environmental stewardship activities focus on these three areas:

  • Healthy creek and bay ecosystems
  • Safe, clean water in creeks and the bay
  • Improved quality of life through trails, open space, and water resources management
