Sheriff’s deputy charged with loaning AR-15 rifle to Gilroy teenager

A San Benito County sheriff’s deputy was jailed after allegedly loaning an AR-15 rifle and bullets to a teenager from Gilroy, authorities said Tuesday.

The deputy, 31-year-old Ryan Miller, faces a felony count of distributing an assault weapon and a misdemeanor count of the sale, loan or transfer of a firearm other than a handgun to a minor, according to a complaint filed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office on April 3.
