Check Out the New Relámpago del Cielo Grupo Folklórico Exhibit in Santa Ana

The Old Orange County Courthouse exhibit celebrates 50 years of the local folklórico dance group with photographs, authentic costumes, interpretive panels, and more.

A new exhibit now open at the Old Orange County Courthouse in Santa Ana celebrates 50 years of Relámpago del Cielo Grupo Folklórico and its connection to Mexican folklórico dance in Orange County.

“Con Cada Paso: A Visual Celebration of Relámpago del Cielo GrupoFolklórico” was developed by OC Parks staff in collaboration with Relámpago del Cielo, a nonprofit cultural arts organization based in Santa Ana. The exhibit features interpretive panels, photographs, authentic folklórico costumes, and more.

With a name meaning “Lightning from the Sky,” Relámpago del Cielo Grupo Folklórico was established in 1975 by Rosie Peña, a former dance instructor at Santa Ana College, and a handful of her dance students who shared passion for music and appreciation of Mexican folklore…
