A California man has been charged with allegedly starting a wildfire that devastated thousands of acres in Napa Valley Wine Country and caused millions of dollars in losses to the region’s wine industry.
Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley announced Thursday that 45-year-old Juan Luis Gutierrez Marfil faces a felony charge of recklessly causing a fire to a structure or forest, according to the Press Democrat. Prosecutors also allege the fire caused more than $6 million in losses.
