Sonoma County approves new West County financing district for infrastructure projects

The West County district aims to use a portion of future growth in property tax revenue to help pay for infrastructure projects like roads and utilities over the coming decades.

Sonoma County has approved a new Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District, known as an EIFD, for West County. It’s a similar financing mechanism to the state’s former redevelopment agencies, which former Jerry Brown abolished in 2014.

The West County district aims to use a portion of future growth in property tax revenue to help pay for infrastructure projects like roads and utilities over the coming decades.
