City Defends Goat Grazing Program Amid Environmental Concerns

City officials said a program using goats to help with wildfire mitigation is being carefully managed for environmental safety.

The City has deployed more than 600 goats to graze nearly 100 acres in the Arroyo Seco to clear invasive plants and dry brush, particularly in steep areas inaccessible to machinery, as a response to recent wildfire threats.
