MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – The defense for Damien Garvin told a judge Thursday morning they are actively working the case, obtaining records and preparing for depositions scheduled for next month.
Meanwhile, the suspected getaway driver, Latoya Hanna, is expected to testify against Garvin under a plea deal with prosecutors. Her sentencing was scheduled for Thursday but is now likely to be delayed until after she testifies. In court, the judge agreed to waive her presence as long as prosecutors could represent she is complying with the conditions of her supervised release and plea agreement. Prosecutors said they could hold her accountable.
