SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected across Sarasota and Bradenton this afternoon and evening, with locally heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds possible. Highs will reach the upper 80s to around 90, but the humidity will make it feel closer to 100 at times.
The wet pattern continues Thursday through Monday, with numerous afternoon and evening storms possible each day across both coastal and inland areas. Some storms could dump a lot of rain in a short time, creating localized street flooding in urban, low-lying and poor-drainage areas. Widespread severe weather is not expected, but lightning and gusty winds will accompany the stronger storms.
Boating conditions will generally be manageable outside of thunderstorms, with winds around 10 mph or less and Gulf seas around 2 feet or less. The bigger concern comes later in the day when thunderstorms move toward the coast and offshore.
