SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The Florida Department of Transportation will fully close Panther Ridge’s main entrance for more than six weeks starting September 30.
The closure affects the primary entrance at 197th Street East and State Road 7445. FDOT documents say the closure is needed to build a new roundabout as part of a larger project widening State Road 70. The closure runs from September 30 through November 14.
Residents say the detour will turn simple errands into long trips. Some say a grocery run could become a round trip. Residents also said they are worried about slower emergency response times…
