SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is moving forward with plans for a new outpatient cancer center near its Venice hospital campus after the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board approved the project Tuesday.
The center would be built on Curry Lane, next to Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice. Sarasota Memorial said the project is intended to expand access to cancer treatment for patients in south Sarasota County and surrounding communities.
The proposed cancer center is part of the health system’s continued expansion of the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute, which Sarasota Memorial launched in 2020.
A radiation oncology center and medical, surgical and radiation oncology physician clinics are proposed for the first floor. The facility also would include infusion services, diagnostic imaging, and integrative and supportive care…
