Work is expected to get under way soon rehabilitating the north bridge to Siesta Key, but the Florida Department of Transportation says it will remain open to traffic, both motorized and human-powered, above and below the roadway.
The project, valued at $4.3 million according to FDOT, will take place mainly below the main deck of the 1972 drawbridge.
Work to the bridge includes:
- Comprehensive concrete maintenance;
- Rehabilitation of existing mechanical and electrical systems;
- Structural steel repairs;
- Replacement of protective steel coatings.
Work is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays and is expected to continue until late 2026…
