New Georgia law allows property owners to sue for nuisance control

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A new Georgia law allows property owners to make claims for compensation if they think local government does not enforce public nuisances such as public camping, vandalism and panhandling strongly enough.

WSAV spoke with State Rep. Jesse Petrea, who co-sponsored House Bill 295. He said he often received calls from his constituents that say their businesses are losing property value and potential customers because people feel unsafe due to nearby panhandling or encampments on their property.
