SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — One year after gunfire erupted inside Oglethorpe Mall, sending shoppers scrambling for safety, the criminal case tied to the shooting is moving closer to trial while the Savannah community continues to reflect on the lasting impact of that day.
The July 2, 2025, shooting claimed the life of Olislene “Tina” Smith, who investigators say suffered a fatal cardiac event during the chaos. Her death was later ruled a homicide.
According to court records, six defendants continue to face dozens of charges, including felony murder, aggravated assault, firearm offenses, and gang-related charges.
