A beloved morning radio host has announced he has late-stage pancreatic cancer, just months after retiring from his long-running show.

“I’m just devastated to hear about this, and I just wish there was something I could do to help,” Sandy McCloud told WSAV. “You know the only thing you can do is pray and remember good things and share the good moments and share the good memories.”

She said she and Robertson “used to always have as much fun as you can getting up at 5:30 in the morning to go be with somebody. He was great. He was always funny and gracious to people.”

“I started here in 1977, came down from New York and thought I’d be here for a couple of years and go somewhere else and fell in love with the area,” Robertson told WSAV as he approached retirement. “I never went. Never went anywhere. But I also never thought it would last for over four decades. I mean, it’s just unbelievable.”…
