Baby delivered after pregnant mother of 6 dies at central Phoenix motel

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Doctors worked to deliver a baby via emergency surgery after a pregnant mother took her own life at a Phoenix motel early Monday morning.

Around 6 a.m., Phoenix police officers responded to a medical call involving a pregnant woman at a Motel 6 in the area of 24th Drive and Thomas Road, just east of Interstate 17. Phoenix firefighters discovered the woman was injured from a gunshot wound, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Police said the mother was pronounced dead at the hospital, but doctors and medical staff worked to deliver the baby. The infant is currently in stable condition at the hospital…
