Shreveport City Council
The Shreveport City Council is the City of Shreveport’s governing body that is responsible for passing ordinances, approving the budget, confirming mayoral appointments and overseeing city government operations. Council members meet regularly in the council chambers of Government Plaza to vote on issues ranging from public safety to development and neighborhood concerns.
Council subcommittees like the Audit and Finance Committee, the Public Safety Committee and the Infrastructure Committee serve as the first stop for legislation. Members examine proposals and shape amendments before items reach the full council.
