A man accused of gunning down a woman three years ago was convicted in Caddo District Court Wednesday.
The jury spent less than 15 minutes deliberating before returning its guilty-as-charged verdict against 22 year-old Edduin Silva of Shreveport. He was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the 2023 shooting and killing of Amaya Jacobs. The 35 year-old woman was shot several times in the face as she drove near Fairfax Avenue and Morningside Drive in the Caddo Heights neighborhood.
Silva shot his .22 caliber rifle 13 times, hitting Jacobs with many rounds. Video showed Silva, who admitted to police that he shot the victim, pacing up and down in front of his house armed with the rifle moments before the shooting.
