LSU Health Shreveport bootcamp welcomes aspiring medical professionals

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – LSU Health Shreveport hosted more than 100 students over the weekend to teach them what it takes to become a healthcare professional.

The “Family Affair” bootcamp, hosted by the LSUHS Office for Student and Community Engagement, helped middle school, high school, and college students prepare for careers in medicine and other health professions.

“Readiness starts as early as middle school,” said Dr. Toni Thibeaux, LSUHS Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student and Community Engagement. “We wanted to provide a space where families could learn together about the academic preparation, support systems, and opportunities available to help students succeed on their educational journey.”…
