Caddo Parish sheriff warns of inmate house arrest scam

CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – An alleged scam aimed at separating loving family members from their money is being exposed by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Vigilance is required, according to CPSO, as they alert residents that scammers are posing as sheriff’s deputies from the Caddo Correctional Center, claiming that an inmate you know qualifies for a 30-day house arrest program and requesting a deposit to secure the monitoring system.

The caller insists on payment through methods that are difficult to dispute, such as gift cards, wire transfers, and peer-to-peer money transfer apps. Residents are reminded that the sheriff’s office will never call you requesting payment over the phone or through any of the above-mentioned methods…
