SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Getting around Shreveport is about to get a lot faster for public transit riders. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, SporTran will officially open its brand-new West Shreveport Gateway Hub, marking the first major public transportation investment in the West Shreveport area in years.
The state-of-the-art facility, built using competitive federal grants, is designed to streamline the city’s transit ecosystem by letting riders bypass the downtown terminal entirely. By creating direct connections from District F to major local corridors, commute times will shrink dramatically. For example, a trip from West Shreveport to Erie Drive that used to take up to two hours will now take just 40 minutes.
The project was completed in close partnership with the Shreveport Regional Airport. While transit buses will now drop off at the new hub rather than the airport itself, officials confirmed that SporTran will continue to provide connecting service to the airport terminal…
