Shreveport looks to data center revenue to fund millions in employee raises

SHREVEPORT, La. – Shreveport officials are considering a transitional funding strategy using Amazon Web Services data center revenue to give city employee pay raises next year and sustain those higher salaries into the future.

“The idea was to put together pay increases that we could afford to front with the money we’re getting now but would be able to sustain after that … money went away,” said Tom Dark, the city’s chief administrative officer.

The planned raises will affect police officers and firefighters, around 400 classified employees with parity raises, and potentially all employees with a cost-of-living adjustment…
