Extended period of warm and dry weather begins

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A large area of upper-level high pressure will take control of our weather for the next week. It will bring plenty of sunshine, prevent any rain, and bring some very warm temperatures.

One more cool night: Monday night will likely be the last time that temperatures drop into the 50s for quite a while. Overnight lows will likely fall into the low to middle 50s. As the upper ridge that is sitting well to our west now begins to expand to the east, we will see much warmer temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs on Tuesday will warm into the low to middle 80s, and will climb into the mid to upper 80s on Wednesday. Low Wednesday will likely return to the 60s.

Plenty of sunshine: Futurecast shows that what is left of the clouds will quickly depart on Monday evening. We will see a clear sky on Monday night. Tuesday will be a mostly sunny day. Expect a mostly clear sky to stick around on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Extended outlook: The upper-level ridge will dominate our weather pattern for at least the next week. That means that we will likely stay dry through this weekend. Daytime highs will warm to near 90 degrees each day starting on Wednesday. Overnight lows will gradually warm into the upper 60s to lower 70s. An extended period of off-and-on stormy weather could begin next Monday, with a low-end severe weather threat possible. Stay tuned!
